Making Your Law School Resume Shine: Summary

Our last two blog posts, “Making Your Resume Shine,” provided a lot of content.  We thought that you might want a summary  as you’re writing your resume.

Part 1 – The Principles.

Law schools must make four key determinations about you:

  • You are dedicated;
  • You can do the required intellectual work at a high level;
  • You will bring positive interpersonal energy to their class;
  • Your future career will reflect well on their decision to admit you.

An exceptional resume will drive law school reviewers to answer those questions favorably.  You should:

  • Be Selective;
  • Be Specific.

Part 2 – The Guidelines.  An exceptional resume will drive law school reviewers to answer those questions favorably.  You should:

  • Be Specific (Cont’d);
  • Be Economical;
  • Be Active;
  • Be Professional; and
  • Watch for Red Flags.
